Aaron heads the Family Law and Child Protection department of Colville Johnstone Lawyers. He assists Bruce and Caitlin with criminal law and domestic violence matters. He is admitted as a legal practitioner in the Supreme Court of Queensland, the High Court of Australia, and is a member of the Queensland Law Society.
Aaron is committed to providing the highest calibre of level advice and representation while minimising costs for his valued clients.
Aaron’s chief areas of legal focus are:
- property settlements including binding financial agreements
- parenting disputes
- domestic and family violence
- peace and good behaviour complaints
- child support and paternity disputes
- change of name applications
- child protection matters.
Aaron also handles criminal matters, calling upon his diverse experience in many serious and high-profile cases.
He has a deep passion for family law and is prepared to do whatever it takes to get the best outcome for his clients. He leverages his strong focus, determination, legal acumen, and a deep-seated desire for justice to help his clients navigate what can be complex and emotionally taxing legal processes.
Aaron’s preference is to see matters resolved amicably through negotiation and mediation. His common-sense approach to dispute resolution yields great results, saves time, and avoids costly and drawn-out separations. However, when necessary, Aaron does not shy away from employing his razor-sharp litigation and seasoned court skills to secure the best result for his clients.
Aaron has acted as a solicitor-advocate in countless matters and trials at the state and federal level, and consequently enjoys a reputation as a credible and fearsome adversary among colleagues and the judiciary. Aaron has spent thousands of hours appearing in court, and revels in the opportunity to work at the coalface of the law.
Aaron has a strong social justice bent, having worked for Legal Aid Queensland in a ‘Violence Prevention’ team, helping vulnerable people achieve lasting protection through the state Domestic and Family Violence Courts. Also while working with Legal Aid, Aaron advanced his legal knowledge and access in remote indigenous communities. While working in Toowoomba, Aaron devoted his time to offering legal advice and assistance to homeless and financially disadvantaged locals.
When Aaron is not fighting for his clients, you will likely find him training to compete in triathlons, marathons, or ultra-endurance charity events like the Gold Coast Kokoda Challenge.
